STORIE All Write is a bimonthly cultural and literary magazine established in 1986 by writer and journalist Gianluca Bassi. The review’s founding editors include Gianni Briani and Roberto Fiorini.
It has since become one of the world’s leading outlets for emerging and emerged writers. In 2003 it has been acknowledged as one of the 5 best international fiction magazines, according to the Writer’s Digest.
An elementary editorial statement, penned in the inaugural issue, set down the magazine’s aim: “This mag cuts no ice with uninquiring people.” Suffice it to say (along with George Steiner) that thinking, reading and writing are “the best antidote against the marsh-gas of boredom and vacuity.”
STORIE delivers a sort of “new” new journalism mixing news writing with literary techniques. Hence the cutting-edge commentary by T.C. Boyle, André Brink, John Biguenet published over the years.
Still a magazine open to linguistic promiscuity and to an ideological task of knowledge, STORIE is devoted to a truly crossover vision of writing: experimentalist convention-breaking DIY attitude associated with the unstoppable countercultural power.
It presents original fiction, poetry, personal essays, commentaries, photographs, and interviews with prominent contemporary authors. Over the past two and a half decades featured over 700 different poets, writers, journalist, translators, artists and photographers.
Among them, Gregory Corso, Charles Bukowski, Raymond Carver, Tess Gallagher, Martin Amis, Derek Walcott, Joyce Carol Oates, Scott Turow, Niccolò Ammaniti, Paul Auster, Ariel Dorfman, Tonino Guerra, Andrzej Zulawski, Lydia Lunch, Jerome Charyn, E.L. Freifeld, Robert Coover, Björn Larsson, Joseph McElroy, Gerard Malanga, Harry Mathews, John Giorno, Topor, Adam Bellow.
Over the years, many writers have had their first story, poem or review published in STORIE. Some of them, like Teresa De Sio, Nicola Lagioia, Davide Carlucci, Federico Platania, Giampaolo Morelli, Daria De Pellegrini, Marco Briganti, Tea Ranno, and Vania Colasanti, have gone on to distinguished literary careers.
Bilingual edition (English/Italian) since 2001.
